Nominators Agreement

Metrolina Theatre Association
Nominator's Agreement for the annual theatre awards
2010-2011 Season

Please read the following agreement in its entirety.

Selection as a nominator for the Metrolina Theatre Association (MTA) Annual Theatre Awards is an honor with attendant privileges and responsibilities. It calls for a dedication of time, energy, and enthusiasm. As a nominator, your commitment and integrity will support the viability of this peer review process. You have been chosen as a person capable of bringing an informed, educated, and impartial viewpoint to the nominations and selection procedures for the awards process.  Your service as a nominator is greatly appreciated, and is vital to the ongoing efforts of MTA to improve the state of theatre in the Metrolina area.

Remember that you are an MTA ambassador and proponent of the awards process to the public.  Specifically, your responsibilities require that you abide by all of the following conditions in order to receive up to two (2) complimentary tickets – one for you and one for a guest – to each production in your category:

  1. To give all productions in your award category the highest priority in your calendar of commitments, and to attend a public performance during the run of each show.
  2. To be familiar with the awards guidelines and the procedures by which you will submit nominations, preliminary ballots, and final ballots. You agree to seek answers when information seems to be lacking, by contacting your category's email address (for example: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) or MTA at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
  3. To remain an MTA member in good standing and to attend general membership meetings as often as possible.
  4. To check the online Production Matrix on a weekly basis for updates, additions, and changes to the shows in your category.
  5. To make reservations for each production as far in advance as possible, knowing that comp tickets may be limited or restricted, are subject to availability, and cannot be requested at the door. Contact information for each production company is linked to the online Production Matrix. Please note that you may only request comp tickets for shows within your category.
  6. To notify the theatre in advance if you cannot attend a performance that you have reserved tickets for, so that they can release your seats. If you cancel your reservation, you are not guaranteed tickets to another performance. Failure to pick up reserved tickets may be reported to your category coordinator, and repeated offenses will result in a loss of nominator status.
  7. To submit a nomination through the online system for every show in your category within fourteen (14) calendar days of the closing date of each production.  You must fill out a nomination form even if you did not attend the production or are ineligible to nominate because of your involvement with the organization or the production.  If you could not attend a production, you must submit a nomination stating that you did not see it.  If you are not able to attend or are ineligible to nominate, you should inform your category coordinator in advance so that an alternate nominator, selected by your coordinator, can take your place.  If you do not submit a nomination within this time frame, it will be assumed that you did not see the production and you will not be permitted to vote on that show at any level of balloting.
  8. To keep copies of your nominations, your ballots, and playbills from each production, as well as any notes that will assist in final balloting decisions.
  9. To complete preliminary and final ballots according to a schedule that will be distributed as the season draws to a close.
  10. To maintain confidentiality about your nominations, all information contained on preliminary and final ballots, and any subsequent deliberations about the awards.  You should not discuss the productions with anyone.

Thank you for volunteering to be a part of the MTA Awards process.
